Nazareth launches bid vs UST

Nazareth School of National University sets in motion its bid for a second straight boys crown against University of Santo Tomas Wednesday in the UAAP Season 82 Boys Volleyball Tournament at the Paco Arena.

The showdown between the two previous champions is set at 9 a.m. to open a four-match bill.

Last season’s runner-up Far Eastern University-Diliman plays Adamson University at 10:30 a.m., while Ateneo and University of the East cross paths at 12 noon.

UE and UP Integrated School collide in the lone girls’ match at 1:30 p.m.

The Bullpups rallied from a 0-1 series deficit to beat the Baby Tamaraws last year to rule the tournament.

NU hopes to make it two in a row despite the graduation of former MVP Lorence Cruz, Pol Salvador, Jules Carlo De Jesus, Jomar Ocampo, Mark Manalo, Dazyl Cayamso, and Jhone Tugas, who all completed their playing eligibility.

De La Salle-Zobel will open its bid for a second-straight Girls’ Champions against last season’s third placers UST at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the FEU-Diliman Gym.
