PGJC-Navy made short work of VNS-One Alicia 25-23, 25-22, 25-22 yesterday to launch its drive on a high in the semifinals of the Spikers’ Turf Open Conference at the Paco Arena.

Skipper Greg Dolor delivered 20 points, 18 from attacks and two blocks, for the Sealions, while Joshua Umandal finished with 12 kills.

Middle blocker Jemmy Entig finished with nine points, while Joeven Dela Vega had seven markers off the bench for Navy.

The Sealions scored a big follow-up to their 25-12, 25-11, 25-22 win over Santa Rosa City in their last eliminations outing three days ago.

The Griffins came off a 25-20, 25-16, 26-28, 25-21 triumph over Army-Katinko last Tuesday.

“Siguro itong laban namin is medyo pangit iyong laro namin ngayon pero naipanalo nila.

Nawala kami ng first receive talaga at parang hindi nag-synchronize iyong blockings namin kaya medyo nawala kami,” Navy coach Cecille Cruzada said.

“Buti na lang iyong mga play ng kabila, nakapag-adjust sila so nakapanalo kami doon tapos noong huli bumawi na sila. Siguro nagising na rin sila na kailangan tapusin. Iyon, nakinig naman sila na tapusin iyong third set,” she added.

Kevin Montemayor led the VNS-One Alicia with nine points, while Uriel Mendoza and team captain Ben San Andres added eight markers each.
