THE country’s biggest and most prestigious taekwondo competition, the 45th Smart/MVP Sports Foundation National Taekwondo Championships, will be held on Sept. 3-4 at the Ayala Malls-Manila Bay in Pasay City.
Over 2,000 taekwondo jins from 20 different regions, including the BARMM, CAR, CARAGA, and the National Capital Region, as well as all branches of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, including the PNP, members of the Philippine Team and major collegiate leagues such as UAAP and NCAA, are participating in the two-day event supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, and Milo.
The organizing Philippine Taekwondo Association said the competition features action in the advance and novice category for men and women in four divisions, namely, Senior, Junior, Cadet, and Grade School.
The PTA said the tournament will utilize the Taekwondo officiating system KPNP — the Protector and Scoring System (PSS) with IVR (Instant Video Replay) system — to ensure fairness and eliminate human error.
