INCLEMENT weather brought about by super typhoon “Karding” forced the cancellation of Monday’s triple-bill of the OKbet-MPBL (Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League) Fourth Season Presented by Xtreme at the Caloocan Sports Complex.
To be reset for a later date were the games pitting Imus against Muntinlupa, Quezon City against Batangas City and Sarangani against Caloocan.
The MPBL resumes its single round-robin elimination round today, Tuesday, with another triple-bill at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Makati tackles Pampanga in the 5 p.m. opener, followed by the Bataan-Manila tussle at 7 o’clock. San Juan tangles with General Santos City at 9 p.m.
Already assured of playoff berths, Pampanga and Bataan are favored over their opponents.
The San Juan-GenSan clash is expected to be a tossup as they have similar 12-6 records and are assured of playoff berths in the two-division, 22-team tournament.
The San Juan Knights have the momentum, however, owing to their five straight wins, including a 90-74 crushing of Bataan on Saturday.
GenSan is raring to recover from a 73-75 defeat it suffered against Zamboanga last Sept. 20.
