Milkers, Delta score huge wins to open ‘Battle of Champions’

METRO Manila champion Farm Fresh-Letran and Luzon leg king Pampanga-Pradera Theme Park scored impressive routs to open the 2023 Manila Bankers Life-Pilipinas Super League 18-Under Battle of the Champions last Sunday at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in Pampanga.

The Milkers handed Mindanao South titlist Max Ballers-Davao a 93-67 rout while the Delta showcased their strength over Mindanao North counterpart Sherilin Unisol City of Naga, 104-65, to score their 12th straight win since the regionals.

Visayas leg champion Cagayan de Oro Higalas B got a bye on the opening day of the tournament co-presented by SCD and Dumper party-list and supported by J Project Clothings, MDC, Bluesky Advertising, NET 25, Wcube Solutions Inc., Hotel SOGO, and Converge.

CDO opens its campaign against Max Ballers in the main event of Monday’s double-header which will be opened by Letran versus Sherilin Unisol.

Daniel Padilla stood at the forefront of the Milkers’ attack, finishing with 21 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field. He was supported by Jonathan Manalili who tallied 14 points, nine steals, six rebounds, and three assists.

Veejay Pre powered Delta’s rout with 18 points and 11 boards while Justine Garcia and Elijah Yusi produced 16 and 12 markers, respectively.

Karlo Estomo paced the Max Ballers with 18 points and eight rebounds while Mark Winters tallied 14 points, five rebounds, and three assists for Sherilin-Unisol.
