Mapua, Letran out to sustain streaks

BIDDING to bolster their Final Four bids, Mapua’s Red Robins and Letran’s Squires try to extend their winning streaks when they clash with separate foes today in the 98th NCAA juniors’ basketball tournament at the Emilio Aguinaldo College Gym.

Mapua takes on the Lyceum Junior Pirates at 2:30 p.m. while Letran clashes with winless Arellano at 4:30.

The Red Robins and the Squires currently share the top spot with 4-0 records.

Last Wednesday, Mapua notched its fourth consecutive win, drubbing the San Beda Red Cubs 76-62, while Lyceum booked trounced the Jose Rizal University Light Bombers 87-77.

Nygel Gonzales, Sean Salvador, Nicolo Mulingtapang, Noel Agenmenyi and Ronjie Go will lead the way for Mapua.

Lyceum will rely on Matthew Rubico, Nat Fuentes, Jose Torres, Luis Parinas, and Ziv Espinas.

Letran scored a 97-89 triumph over the Perpetual Junior Atlas, while the Arellano Braves absorbed their fourth straight loss 69-73 at the hands of La Salle Green Hills Greenies.

The Squires are expected to bank on Andrei Gemao, Timothy Cruz, George Diamante, Justine Hugo and Jolo Navarro.

The Braves will lean on James Moore, Axel Javier, Ivan Panapanaan, Micko Nambi, and Paul Reguera.
