WORLD No. 7 Lee Zii Jia of Malaysia scored a 21-17, 23-21 win over Indonesian Jonatan Christie and bagged his first Asian men’s singles title as the Smart Badminton Asia Championships ended yesterday at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex.
With the win, Lee gained 12,000 points to boost his BWF world rankings while Christie, ranked No. 8 in the world, gained 10,200. The other semifinalists, China’s Weng Hong Yang and Indonesia’s Chico Auta Dwi Wardoyo, had 8,400 points each.
