GAMES SATURDAY
(UST Quadricentennial Pavilion)
2 p.m. – FEU vs. Ateneo
4:30 p.m. – Adamson vs. La Salle
LA Salle skipper Mike Phillips is embracing his role as one of the Green Archers’ leaders in their bid to regain lost glory in the 88th UAAP basketball tournament set to come off the wraps this Saturday.
The Taft-based five will enter the post-Kevin Quiambao era and will take on Adamson University in the main game at 4:30 p.m. of the season-opening games at the University of Santo Tomas Quadricentennial Pavilion.
Phillips, the 6-foot-8 and two-time Mythical Five member, will join hands with teammates Earl Abadam, Andrei Dungo and JC Macalalag.
“So, for me as a captain, it’s really just trying to pick up where I left off in terms of that and really just trying to, you know, since it’s my last year, really try to bring everyone together,” Phillips said. “What I’m really happy is, hindi ako nag-iisa sa trabaho na ito. Marami akong veterans, marami akong talagang tulong and even though I’m technically team captain, you know, these guys are leading me as well. “They’re leading me in my faith. We’re leading each other and just how it says in Proverbs, you know, iron sharpens iron. We’re trying to sharpen each other every day,” he added.
