LYCEUM begins its redemption drive when it faces San Beda University today in the 99th NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila.
The Lady Pirates, last season’s bridesmaid, will open their campaign against the Lady Red Spikers at 2 p.m..
The Intramuros-based crew are among the heavy contenders this season following a historic finals appearance last year.
Lyceum will be bannered by Heart Bio, Joann De Guzman, Katrina Galedo, Angelica Guzman, Jericha Lopez, Denise Lopez, Vanessa Martin, Hiromi Osada, Marcela Rivas, and Lean Topacio.
Edgar Barroga was named new San Beda coach this season, vice Ariel Dela Cruz.
Kleiner Abraham, Katleya Molina, Maxine Tayag, and Chynna Castillo will be counted upon by the Lady Red Spikers.
Mapua University takes on San Sebastian College in the curtain-raiser at 10 a.m.
The Lady Cardinals, led by coach Clarence Esteban, will count on veteran Alyanna Ong, Roxie Dela Cruz, Hannah De Guzman, Princess Babiera, Trixie Gojol to deliver.
Kath Santos, Kristine Dionisio, Amaka Tand, Tina Marasigan and Jassy Lumiboa are expected to show the way for the belles of Lady Stags strategist Roger Gorayeb.
