KIDD Estalilla and Cyle Perez scored 17 points each as Luid One Kapampangan turned back Hustle 94-87 last Wednesday night for its second straight win in the Sinag Liga Asya Born 2001 Cup at the One Arena in Cainta.
Estalilla and Perez were supported by CJ Buitison who added 15 points and eight rebounds, while Darell Garcia had a double-double of 13 and 12 for Luid One Kapampangan, which came off 73-70 decision over LDG San Pedro last Saturday in the inaugural tilt presented by Converge and supported by Foton, JProject, Royce Hotel, Sunsport, Bluesky Advertising, Finn Cotton, WCube Solutions, and SCD.
Ernie Pineda paced the Rising Suns with 23 points and four rebounds but his efforts were not enough to prevent the team from absorbing its second loss in a row, counting a 63-70 setback to Datzlav Eoz Construction Laguna also last Saturday.
In other games, the debuting Parañaque Pelicans whipped the NBS Slashers 97-85, while LDG San Pedro crashed the winner’s circle with an 83-78 triumph over Datzlav Eoz Construction Laguna.
Rongel John Guerrero pumped in 24 points for the Pelicans, while Christopher Garcia Jr., (20), Angelo Obuye (14), and Geofrey Santos (12) provided ample help.
The tilt is a single-round eliminations, with the top eight teams advancing to the quarterfinals with twice-to-beat incentives against the lower-ranked squads.
The semifinals and finals will be one-game tiffs.
