LIMITLESS App succeeded where four other squads failed last Tuesday.
The Appmasters hacked out a 21-18 victory over TNT to bag their second straight crown in the sixth and final leg of the PBA 3×3 Lakas ng Tatlo at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Jorey Napoles scored five of his game-high seven points in the final two minutes, including three straight baskets to shatter a close 13-all match that put Limitless App ahead for good.
Napoles later joined Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser, Reymar Caduyac, and Marvin Hayes as the quartet celebrated at mid-court after winning back-to-back titles at the conclusion of Leg 6 backed by 1Pacman Party List.
The Appmasters won the top prize of P100,000 to add to their earlier earnings following a similar triumph in the fifth leg of the standalone tourney where they also edged the Tropang Giga 14-13.
In the battle for third, Platinum Karaoke was too much against the Beermen, scoring a 21-13 win to take home the P30,000 purse.
Before Limitless App pulled off the feat, TNT, Meralco, Sista, and Purefoods all fell short in their respective tries to become the tilt’s first two-time leg winner.
“We approached every leg the same. We got out there and tried to give it our best, and we took no opponent lightly,” Appmasters coach Willy Wilson said.
“Now the hard part is can we do it another time in the Grand Finals,” Ganuelas-Rosser added.
Buoyed by their back-to-back triumphs, Limitless App will try to cap its campaign by winning the big one when the tournament holds its first grand finals on Dec. 29 at the Big Dome.
The finale is backed by 1Pacman Party List headed by Deputy Speaker and NorthPort team owner Mikee Romero.
