LETRAN stormed back from two sets down and stunned Jose Rizal University, scoring a 14-25, 16-25, 25-20, 25-17, 17-15 decision yesterday in the 98th NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at the San Andres Sports Complex.
The duo of Julienne Castro and Judiel Nitura carried the Lady Knights home, scoring 16 and 15 points, respectively. Jade Isar and Chamberlaine Cuñada also combined for 23 points as Letran improved to 4-1.
Although JRU reached match point first in the final set, Letran crawled it ways back and equalized at 14-all.
Cuñada shoved the Lady Knights to match point 16-15 on a service ace before Letran completed its gritty fightback.
Riza Rose scored 23 points for the Lady Bombers, while Karyla Jasarenos, Mary Ruiz, and skipper Sydney Niegos’ had 12, 11, and 10 markers, respectively.
Arellano University shackled San Sebastian College 27-25, 18-25, 25-17, 25-15 for its fourth win.
Marianne Padillon fired 20 points, 19 attacks and one block for the Lady Chiefs while Laika Tudlasan and Pauline De Guzman contributed 12 and 11 markers, respectively.
