CEBUANOS Florendo Lapiz and Lizane Abella swept the men’s and women’s marathon of the Manila leg of the Milo Marathon elimination series that started and ended at the seaside of the Mall of Asia in Pasay City yesterday.
Racing at 1 a.m. to avoid the hot weather and in keeping with an agreement with the Pasay, Manila and Paranaque governments to finish the races early, Carcar City native Lapiz clocked two hours and 42 minutes and 33 seconds in ruling the men’s full marathon.
Mandaue pride Abella clocked 3:21.05 on the distaff as they led the top three finishers in the Manila leg to the Milo Marathon finals set in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental in December.
