Lakers have last laugh

LEBRON James scored 19 of his 34 points in the fourth quarter and Anthony Davis finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds as the visiting Los Angeles Lakers overcame a 21-point deficit in the final period to pull off a 116-112 victory over the short-handed Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila).

D’Angelo Russell scored 18 points and Rui Hachimura added 17 as the Lakers defeated the Clippers for the third time in four games and won the season series between the teams for the first time since 2011-12. The Clippers had won 11 consecutive meetings entering this season.

The comeback came as the teams played the final regular-season game against each other as co-tenants of Crypto.com Arena, formerly Staples Center. The teams have shared the building since 1999-2000. The Clippers are set to move to the new Intuit Dome in nearby Inglewood, California next season.

Kawhi Leonard scored 26 points and James Harden added 23 as the Clippers lost for the fifth time in their past eight games. Leonard had the chance to tie the score with seven seconds remaining, but his shot over James was short.

In other games, it was the Bulls 132, Cavs 123 (2OT); Wolves 110, Grizzlies 101; Pacers 123, Pelicans 114; Mavs 136, Raptors 125; and Nuggets 117, Kings 96.

DeMar DeRozan had 35 points and 10 rebounds, Nikola Vucevic added 24 points and 13 rebounds, and Chicago outlasted visiting Cleveland in double overtime.

Ayo Dosunmu scored 21 points and Andre Drummond had 17 points and a season-high 26 rebounds for Chicago, which scored the first eight points in double overtime. Coby White had 14 points and 12 assists, and rookie Onuralp Bitim chipped in a career-high 10 points. Chicago outrebounded Cleveland 74-39 and snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Cavaliers.

Evan Mobley led Cleveland with 25 points and 13 rebounds, while Darius Garland made a season-high seven 3-pointers and scored 23 points. Donovan Mitchell added 19 points, Caris LeVert chipped in 14 points and a career-high 15 assists, Isaac Okoro scored 13, and Jarrett Allen and Max Strus each had 11.
