LYCEUM blasted Letran 25-15, 25-20, 25-17 yesterday for its third straight victory and bolstered its Final Four bid in the 98th NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at the San Andres Sports Complex.
The Lady Pirates gained solo third with a 6-2 mark, thanks to Joan Doguna who fired 15 points.
Also contributing to Lyceum’s third straight win were Janeth Tulang and Johna Dolorito who combined for 18 markers, while playmaker Venice Puzon had 15 excellent sets along with five points.
“Big win para sa amin ito dahil iyong sa placing (standings). Pagkatapos nito, magpre-prepare na ulit kami for Perpetual kasi sobrang dikit-dikit iyong standings namin,” Lady Pirates coach Cromwel Garcia said.
“Gusto naming makalayo ng konti para ma-sure namin iyong spot (semifinals),” he added.
Judiel Nitura and Chamberlaine Cunada paced the Lady Knights, who dropped to 4-4, with six points apiece.
Earlier, San Sebastian College whipped Emilio Aguinaldo College 25-22, 25-16, 25-17 for its second win.
Tina Marasigan hammered a 20-point performance for the Lady Stags, while Kristine Dionisio and Amaka Tan delivered 11 markers apiece.
San Sebastian raised its record to 2-6, while the Lady Generals dropped to 1-6.
Skipper Catherine Almazan and Krizzia Reyes led EAC with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
