DEFENDING three-time champion Arellano University vented its ire on Lyceum, scoring a 27-29, 25-20, 25-15, 25-18 victory yesterday to move to solo second in the 97th NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at the Paco Arena.
Trina Abay sizzled with 16 points for the Lady Chiefs, while Princess Bello added 15 markers and 15 digs.
Skipper Carla Donato and Nicole Sasuman also had 10 points apiece for Arellano, which atoned for a 26-24, 26-24, 25-20 defeat to San Sebastian College last Saturday and improved to 3-1 behind unbeaten College of St. Benilde.
The Lady Pirates, coming off a 25-19, 25-22, 20-25, 25-23 victory over San Beda University four days ago, dropped to 2-2 for seventh.
In the first match, Perpetual Help ripped Emilio Aguinaldo College 25-21, 25-17, 25-7 for its second straight win.
Razel Aldea led the Lady Altas with 12 points, while Mary Rhose Dapol and Janine Padua delivered 11 and 10 markers, respectively.
Libero Catherine Lim contributed 30 digs and six excellent receptions for Perpetual, which scored a big follow up to its 26-24, 25-18, 25-19 win over Letran last Friday and rose to 2-1 in a four-way logjam for third with the Lady Stags, Jose Rizal University, and Mapua University.
The Lady Generals failed to recover from a 26-24, 25-21, 25-16 setback at the hands of the Lady Bombers last Saturday and remained winless in three outings.
