EARLY joint leaders La Salle and National University have promptly offered a peek of their strength, at least in their first two games, but their coaches insisted they’re only just starting.
The Lady Spikers and the Lady Bulldogs’ grit will be tested anew when they tangle today in the 84th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
The match is set at 4 p.m. after winless teams Far Eastern University and University of the East collide at 12 o’clock.
Like La Salle and NU, University of Santo Tomas and University of the Philippines also stake their 2-0 cards when they clash in the curtain-raiser at 10 in the morning.
In the nightcap, defending champion Ateneo seeks its first win when it takes on Adamson University at 6 p.m.
“Of course, seeing NU against Ateneo, ipinakita talaga nila kung ano iyong strength nila, so sa atin medyo nag-a-adjust pa tayo, then hopefully we can show kung ano ang kayang ilabas pa ng Lady Spikers,” La Salle assistant coach Benson Bocboc, who spoke in lieu of coach Ramil De Jesus, said.
“Kung iga-gauge natin iyong mga teams halos sa ngayon pare-pareho pa sila, so mataas, pero since very close iyong labanan natin and very short ang UAAP, maybe towards the end of the season doon natin makikita iyong difference, so iyon iyong mangyayari,” he added.
