THE University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses are keeping their heads held high even after a 25-23, 17-25, 21-25, 20-25 loss to the National University Lady Bulldogs–their first last Sunday in the 86th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.
Prized 5-foot-8 rookie Angeline Poyos admitted that the Espana-based belles had lapses during the duel and insisted UST still has a lot of room for improvement.
“Iyon nga sabi ni coach (Kungfu Reyes), daming nagkulang. Daming kulang sa game na ito.
Unang-una nawala sa amin is communication and nawalan din kami ng gana noong patapos na set and hindi naman natatapos dito ang lahat, still nasa top pa rin kami, 8-1, so ang need lang namin gawin is mag bounce back,” Poyos said. “Iyong mga kulang namin, iyong mga need namin i-improve gagawin namin.
“Siguro iyong talo namin ngayon gagawin na lang naming motivation sa mga susunod na mga games kasi nga na-sweep namin iyong first round and nagkaroon kami ng talo ngayong second round. So, ayun, gagawin naming motivation para mag-pursigi pa sa mga next games,” she added.
