JUST one to two pounds over the 105-pound weight limit, Melvin Jerusalem is primed and ready for his rematch with Japan’s YudaiShigeoka in what will be his second title defense of the World Boxing Council minimum weight belt this Sunday at the Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Japan.
“Melvin is 100 percent ready; he is just one to two pounds over the weight limit, which is nothing. He is ready to go,” said JC Manangquil, the promoter of Taduran, who left yesterday with chief trainer Michael Domingo for the Japanese city famous for its ceramic and pottery industry.
Mananquil, who was recognized as the Boxing Promoter of the Year at the 2nd Pacquiao-Elorde Boxing Awards at the Okada Hotel Manila last week, said that he will join the Jerusalem camp on Wednesday after attending another promotion in the Japanese capital of Tokyo.
A native of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, Jerusalem, 31, known for his moniker “El Gringo,” is making his second title defense of the belt he wrested from Shigeoka by a close split decision win on March 31, 2024 at the International Conference Hall in Nagoya.
