FIDE Master Sander Severino, the most outstanding Filipino athlete in the 11th Asean Para Games in Indonesia with four gold and two silver medals, will receive P500,000 in cash incentives based on Republic Act 10699, or the revised incentives law.
Severino will get P150,000 apiece by topping the men’s individual PI standard and rapid events plus another P50,000 from his share in the team golds of each event plus another P100,000 for his silver medals in the men’s PI individual and team blitz events, respectively.
Guaranteed of pocketing P450,000 each are swimming triple gold medalists and Games newcomers Ariel Joseph Alegarbes and Angel Otom, who are also likely to get more bonuses for setting new Asean Para Games records in their respective events.
The incentives of the medalists will likely be awarded when the Philippine contingent makes a courtesy call at Malacanang that is being arranged by the PSC, according to PSC acting officer-in-charge and executive director Atty. Guillermo Iroy Jr.
The Pinoy campaigners achieved an all-time high of 28 gold, 31 silver and 46 bronze medals to place fifth overall in the regional meet held from July 30 to Aug. 6 in Surakarta, Indonesia.

Veteran para swimmer Ernie Gawilan will get P382,500 from the two mints he won in the men’s 400-meter freestyle and 200-individual medley S7 races plus a silver in the 100-meter backstroke and bronze in the men’s 4×100-meter freestyle relay.
The Davao City native will also get an added bonus for setting new Para Games marks in the men’s individual 400-meter freestyle and 200-meter IM events.
Pretty wheelchair-bound thrower Cendy Asusano will get P330,000 for the two mints she won in the women’s javelin throw and shot put F54 and a bronze in the women’s discus throw.
Veteran wheelchair racer Jerrold Mangliwan will get P300,000 for his wins in the men’s 100 and 400-meter T52 races as well as rookie swimmer Marco Tinamisan, who swept both the men’s 50 and 100-meter freestyle S3 events.
Tokyo Paralympian Gary Bejino will receive P300,000 for his gold in the men’s 100-meter freestyle S7 event and his pair of silvers in the men’s 50-meter freestyle and butterfly events.
