Hoffman, Cabang make debut in world meet

FIL-AM Lauren Hoffmann will make her debut for the country in the 25th World Athletics Indoor Championships when she competes in the heats of the women’s 400-meter run today at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland.

The former Duke University standout is set to compete starting at 10:20 a.m. (6:20 p.m. Manila time), hoping to achieve a strong finish to advance to the semifinals tomorrow at 8:20 a.m. (4:20 p.m. Manila time), according to athletics secretary general Jasper Tanhueco.

Tanhueco, who is now in Glasgow, said also making his world indoor meet debut tomorrow is John Cabang, who will vie in the heats of the men’s 60-meter hurdles at 10 a.m. (6:10 p.m. Manila time), with the semis set at 7 p.m. (3 a.m. Sunday Manila time). — Bong Pedralvez
