PICKING up from where it left off, PLDT overwhelmed Farm Fresh yesterday, scoring a 25-17, 25-17, 25-20 victory that propelled the High Speed Hitters to solo fourth in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Fil-Canadian Savi Davison led the way for PLDT with 18 points that came on the heels of a 19-point production in the team’s equally one-sided three-set win over the Akari Chargers last Thursday.

PLDT scored its second straight victory after dropping a four-setter to the Cignal HD Spikers last week for solo fourth at 2-1 behind Creamline, Petro Gazz and Chery Tiggo, which tote identical 2-0 marks.

“I’m happy to get the win. They performed well,” said PLDT mentor Rald Ricafort. “They have recovered from the small lapses from our first game.”

Earlier, F2 Logistics humbled new team Nxled 25-20, 25-14, 25-16.

With Ivy Lacsina showing the way, the Cargo Movers attacked the Chameleons’ defense with impunity to emerge with a 42-27 edge and bounce back from a 25-21, 20-25, 25-27, 25-19, 8-15 defeat to the Akari Chargers last week.

Lacsina, a former National U stalwart, also shone on the defensive end as the Cargo Movers posted a 12-1 difference in blocks.

“I’ve been working extra hard in defense. I just wanted to give what the team needs, so I always play all-out,” said Lacsina, who emerged as the game’s best player with 19 points spiked with four kill blocks.

Majoy Baron also had four blocks on her way to a 10-point output as she and Lacsina patrolled the net with impunity which the Nxled hitters found tough to pierce, particularly in the third set, as the Cargo Movers completed the straight-sets romp in one-hour and 22 minutes.

“We still have a lot of things to work on and we cannot be complacent,” said F2 Logistics coach Regine Diego, one of the few coaches in the league blessed with a star-studded crew, including a band of rising stars. “This win is a big boost but we have to work more.”

Jolina dela Cruz had 11 points and posted 11 excellent receptions, Aby Maraño added seven markers, mostly on her signature running attacks, while Ara Galang also finished with seven points for the Cargo Movers, who will next play the Galeries Tower Highrisers in another PVL on Tour match in Candon, Ilocos Sur this Saturday.

F2 Logistics moved into a tie with Nxled, one of the two newcomers in the season-ending conference of the league organized by Sports Vision which debuted with a straight-set win over Gerflor last week, at fourth with Choco Mucho, PLDT, Cignal and Akari.
