INCENTIVES keep pouring in for Hidilyn Diaz, the country’s first Olympic gold medal winner.

She is set to receive P5 million more from the Philippine Sports Commission for her record-breaking lift in the women’s 55kg class last Monday in the Tokyo Olympics and P3 million from President Duterte, raising her monetary incentives to P48.5 million.

The President announced this last Wednesday during an online conference with Diaz, shortly after her arrival from Tokyo. Duterte also told Diaz that he will gift her with a house and lot in Zamboanga.

Under Republic Act 10699 or the Expanded Incentives Act, national athletes and other athletes who surpass Philippine records in any measurable international sports competition shall be given cash incentives, the amount of which may be determined by the PSC.

Diaz lifted 127kg in the clean and jerk which gave her a 224kg total, anew Olympic mark.

In all, Diaz, 30, will receive P15 million from the PSC. She will also receive P10 million each from the MVP Group and San Miguel Corp., P5 million from businessman Dennis Uy, P3 million from Deputy Speaker Mikee Romero, and P2.5 million from the Zamboanga City government. Counting Duterte’s P3 million, that amounts to P48.5 million.

PSC officer-in-chargeCommissioner Celia Kiram has confirmed that the additional incentive has been approved, signed, and ready for release.

Philippine Olympic Committee President Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino has also pledged to award Diaz a house and lot in Tagaytay. Megaworld, the property company of real estate tycoon Andrew Tan, also announced that Diaz will be rewarded with a “P14 million condominium unit” in its upscale township of Eastwood City in Libis, Quezon City.

She also stands to receive free fuel for life from Phoenix, house and lot worth P4 million from Century Properties, and lifetime free flights from Air Asia and Philippine Airlines.
