WITH skipper Ces Molina showing the way, Cignal HD stunned defending champion College of St. Benilde 18-25, 25-21, 25-17, 17-25, 15-13 yesterday to complete an elimination sweep of the PNVF Champions League at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila.

The HD Spikers, despite committing a maze of errors, clinched their spot in the semifinals with a 4-0 mark.

Molina delivered a game-high 19 points, while Vanie Gandler contributed 12 markers for Cignal.

The HD Spikers will have a one-day break before the semifinals where they will face the fourth-seeded squad tomorrow at the same venue.

“Ako siyempre very thankful kasi naka-survive kami especially dito sa last game namin (sa eliminations). To be honest siyempre nakakapagod din kasi iyong sa four days na game namin talaga dire-diretso, grabe iyong labanan,” Cignal coach Shaq Delos Santos said.

“Well, ang good thing siyempre nakaka-proud iyong team kasi inilaban hanggang dulo and iyon, nakuha pa rin namin iyong game, iyong panalo,” he added.

Corrine Apostol and Clydel Catarig paced the Lady Blazers, who slipped to 1-2, with 13 and 10 markers, respectively.
