PASSI CITY, Iloilo. — Recovering from a previous heartbreak, the Cignal HD Spikers clinched a spot in the quarterfinals of the PVL On Tour, thwarting the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles 25-22, 25-17, 21-25, 25-16 Sunday at the City of Passi Arena here.
The HD Spikers finished Pool B with a 4-1 record, earning the first of the two outright quarterfinal slots.
Opposite spiker Erika Santos erupted for a career-high 30 points and eight digs for Cignal while open hitter Ishie Lalongisip tallied15 markers and 13 excellent receptions.
It was a convincing bounce back triumph for the HD Spikers after they fell to the Chery Tiggo Crossovers last Saturday 13-25, 28-26, 15-25, 15-25.
“Actually, yesterday sobrang disappointed kami doon sa naging result siyempre medyo may inexpect din kami na kailangan namin igalaw but iyon nga kailangan namin i-accept kung ano nangyari and from there pahinga lang kahit medyo late na kami nakabalik 12 o’ clock na yata,” Cignal coach Shaq delos Santos said. “Nag-practice lang kanina sabi ko nga kailangan maka-recover and bounce back talaga kasi very important sa amin itong game na ito para makapasok kami ng quarterfinals so malaking impact sa amin ito.
