A BREAKTHROUGH quarterfinals stint.
Despite losing its last two matches in pool play, guest team Master Sardines did just enough yesterday to reach the quarterfinals of the fourth leg of the PBA 3×3 Lakas Ng Tatlo second conference at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Master Sardines fell to Limitless App and San Miguel Beer but still managed to gain the last playoff berth in Pool A with an even 2-2 record.
The team, which competed in the standalone league starting in the second leg, won its first two matches against NorthPort and Cavitex last Saturday in the opener of leg 4.
It will be joined in the next round by the Beermen and the Appmasters, who completed a four-game sweep of their pool assignment after a 19-15 victory over Cavitex.
Limitless is still untouchable in its last 11 outings, counting a seven-game sweep of leg 3 to win the crown last week.
The Sista Super Sealers stunned erstwhile Pool B leader Platinum Karaoke 22-12 for their first win in the leg.
The loss was the first for Platinum, which still leads its group as of yesterday with a 2-1 card.
In Pool C, Ginebra tied Meralco on top at 2-1 after beating the Bolts 21-14.
Still to be determined are the quarterfinals cast in both Pools B and C, where the top two teams advanced to the knockout stage, and the remaining quarterfinals slot to be disputed by the No. 3 teams in each pool.
