STRUGGLING Bianca Pagdanganan resumes her campaign in the LPGA tour today (Thursday in the US) when she competes against a banner field in the CPKC Women’s Open at the Mississauga Golf and Country Club in Mississauga, Canada.

After finishing tied for 35th in the Standard Portland Classic in Oregon the previous week, Pagdanganan, currently No. 211 on the Rolex women’s world ratings, hopes to make her second straight cut at the par-71, 6,661-yard layout located 27 kilometers southwest of Toronto.

Her sixth year on the US LPGA Tour has been a bumpy ride for the two-time Olympic Games veteran, who has missed the cut in eight of her last 12 starts and is keen on getting back into the groove for the remainder of the season to bolster her bid to retain her tour card.

Known as one of the tour’s power hitters, Pagdanganan needs to be focused and disciplined on a layout which features “rolling fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and well-guarded greens.”

But it won’t be easy for the ICTSI-sponsored golfer, who will be taking on a powerhouse field that includes 19 of the top 25 in the world ratings, led by Thai No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul, in pursuit of capturing Canada’s most prestigious women’s pro golf tournament.

Also among the entries to watch are 15-time LPGA tour winner and Tokyo Olympic Games gold medalist Nelly Korda of the US and three-time champion Lydia Ko of New Zealand, the Paris Olympic women’s titlist, who will contend for the top prize of $412,000 (about P23.501 million).
