PASIG City MCW Sports is going back to the salt mines.
After falling short in their campaign in the MPBL (Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League) Fifth Season, Tropang Pasig team owner Buddy Encarnado is convinced the squad will only get better even — with a lot of hard work.
“Experience is something that cannot be gained in one conference, especially for promising players. They may be promising but it’s more of a promise more than anything else,” Encarnado said. “Kung nagluluto ka importante siguro makuha mo iyong tamang timpla, even the type of heat you use. Perhaps medyo masarap na pero ika nga hindi pa pang-handa so that’s how I want to look at it.
“But having been in basketball, tomorrow is another day, persistence has always been a part of me and my team wherever I go. We fell short today but that’s only for today,” he added.
The gritty fifth-ranked Pasig five absorbed a 60-68 defeat to No. 4 Caloocan three nights back in their do-or-die North division quarterfinals duel at the Caloocan Sports Complex.
Encarnado said the ejection of skipper Ryan Costelo at the 2:56 mark of the third quarter took its toll on Tropang Pasig’s bid.
“My only regret is we did not finish it the way we wanted to. Pressure really told heavily on them. I was telling the team, losing is part of the game but losing my team captain in the third quarter is the telling one,” Encarnado said.
