Foxies battle back, topple Highrisers

COLOMBIAN spiker Yeny Murillo dropped 29 points to propel Farm Fresh Foxies to its first victory in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference, a 25-22, 35-37, 23-25, 25-20, 15-10 decision over Galeries Tower Highrisers yesterday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

The 6-foot outside hitter, who fired eight points in the fifth frame alone, displayed her offensive and defensive brilliance for the Foxies while also tallying 16 excellent receptions and 10 digs.

Lefty spikers Caitlin Viray and Trisha Tubu also sparkled for Farm Fresh with 18 points apiece, middle blocker Aprylle Tagsip scored 15 markers, while libero Janel Delerio had 25 digs and 12 excellent receptions.

Farm Fresh rose to 1-2 in Pool A while Galeries remained winless in three matches.

“First win. Very, very happy,” Farm Fresh head coach Shota Sato said through an interpreter after the two hour, 42-minute contest.

“In this game, I already saw good things and bad things from the team so we’ll adjust accordingly in training to get the win in our next game.”

Thai spiker Chuewulim Sutadta led the scoring load for the Highrisers with 19 points along with 19 excellent receptions and 18 digs while Graze Bombita and France Ronquillo added 17 markers each while Roselle Baliton had 14 points.
