For Yulo family, all’s well that ends well?

AIMING to put an end to their differences once and for all, Angelica Yulo yesterday asked for forgiveness from his son, Paris Olympic double gold medalist Carlos Edriel Yulo, while opening the door for reconciliation with her estranged child.

“Humihingi ako ng patawad sa iyo (Carlos) at sa sambayanan sa mga nasabi sa interview (last Monday),” Mrs. Yulo, who was accompanied by legal counsel Atty. Raymond Fortun in a press conference at the Heroes Hotel in Manila, said.

“Kung mali na naging magpuna ako sa nobya mo (Chloe San Jose), humihingi ako ng patawad dahil nanay lang ako na nag-aala,” added the mother in a choking voice while holding back tears.

The press conference was held after Yulo and San Jose came out with a video on social media accusing the mother of reportedly taking his incentives from their joint bank account without his knowledge and Mrs. Yulo’s disapproval of his girlfriend.

The mother had earlier granted impromptu TV interviews regarding her differences with her son, denying she had been skimming off his bonuses and her thoughts about his Filipino-Australian girlfriend.

She also refuted the negative statements in the fake Twitter, now known as X, account bearing her name, disclosing that she does not have one.

She denied she is speaking out now because his son is expected to receive millions of pesos in cash and other prizes for his golden achievements.

Fortun, who volunteered his services for free to help the Yulo family, said it was appropriate that “we celebrate in the successes of Carlos Edriel Yulo instead of focusing on their family problems.

“The family problems are private matter so we should try to lay off. Kung maari lang, lumayo tayo diyan. Iwasan na natin. Kasi nakita ninyo kung ano ang magiging epekto dun sa ina, dun sa mga kapatid and even to Caloy.”

He congratulated Yulo “because despite these issues, hiding them underneath ‘yung nangyayari sa pamilya niya, he was able to perform so well. We should congratulate him for that. Ginawa niya para sa bayan despite having his own personal problems.”

Fortun said he and the family were still discussing the legal options they would take against the creators of the fake Mrs. Yulo accounts, adding the press conference would be the last time she would be venting their family issues in public.

“Let us respect their (the Yulos’) privacy as they seek to resolve these matters among themselves,” he said.
