PHILIPPINE Rugby Football Union president Ada Milby, who was elected as the first Asian to the World Rugby executive board last week, aims to use her new role in the global body for the continued development and promotion of the sport in Asia and the country as well.
“Our election to the bord helps us to have a stronger voice at the decision table in influencing the game globally. That comes down to strategy and being able to seeks pathways for players, coaches, officials, competitions, and everything related to the sport,” Milby said.
“Our election is not only good for Asian women’s rugby but for the good of the sport in our continent, period,” she added. “We aim to look for collaborative ways to make the game grow sustainably anywhere in the world so it is a huge win for us.
“It speaks very strongly about the talent that we have here in the Philippines,” stressed Milby, who turns 40 on Thursday and is the youngest member of the WRFU’s 12-man board.
“I pray I can offer the world body with something fresh and different while I am there,” said the Filipino-American rugby official, who once was a master sergeant in the US military.
