THE MVP Sports Foundation has renewed its support of the plans, programs and competitions of the Philippine Football Federation, the PFF announced on its website late Sunday.

“MVPSF is making history in Philippine football as it continues to sponsor the Philippine women’s national football Team, the Filipinas, and also extending a helping hand to our various youth development activities in football and futsal,” PFF President John Anthony Gutierrez said.

“We appreciate that MVPSF understands our vision and is willing to invest for the long-term with the PFF.”

In 2012, MVPSF was among the first patrons to back the scouting and training camp of the Philippine women’s national football team, known by its moniker Filipinas, in the US.

With the support, the PFF was able to discover overseas talents, among them striker Sarina Bolden, who scored the winning goal in the 1-0 upset of New Zealand in last year’s FIFA World Cup; veteran midfielder Tahnai Annis and defender Hali Long, the latter two serving as national skippers.

The Filipinas achieved a historic milestone in Philippine football by reaching the semifinals of the Asian Women’s Football Cup in 2022 in India and qualifying for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Down Under a year later.

It also supported the recent five-nation ASEAN Women Futsal Championship at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City which served as the prelude to the country’s hosting of the inaugural FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup in late 2025.

Gutierrez said the foundation formed by businessman-sportsman Manny Pangilinan has also funded other PFF tournaments and competitions such as the Futsal Liga Eskwela, regional football festivals for different age groups and regional youth leagues.

The MVPSF has also backed the Football Starts at Home program where children aged three to six are taught the basics of the beautiful game by their parents.

“The MVP Sports Foundation has been very instrumental to the success of world-class Filipino athletes such as Hidilyn Diaz, Carlos Yulo, Nesthy Petecio and many more. We at PFF take pride in the partnership and look forward to writing a new, and exciting chapter of Philippine football and futsal with MVPSF,” Gutierrez said.
