RARING to prove his worth anew for the country, midfielder Sandro Reyes is eager to not only fly the flag but also make his countrymen proud when the Philippine national men’s football team defends home court.

The Nationals will begin their campaign Tuesday next week in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers against Maldives at the New Clark City Stadium.

The Philippines is grouped with Tajikistan, Maldives and Timor Leste in the Group A of the 24-nation field.

“Always prepared. You don’t have to motivate yourself to play for the national team. It’s always a special feeling. So, we’re automatically motivated and want to win in front of our people, especially at home,” Reyes said during the partnership event between the Philippine Football Federation and GoTyme Bank last Tuesday at The Westin Manila in Ortigas, Pasig.

The 21-year-old footballer shared that he has been working on his physicality since the Mitsubishi Electric Cup last year as he also strive for his continuous improvement.

“Personally, maybe just my stamina, perhaps, or the physical side of the game. I think I did my best showing with the national team so far in the last tournament,” Reyes said. “So. I just want to keep improving and show even better in the upcoming games.”

In August last year, Reyes joined the FC Gutersloh in Germany’s Regionalliga West where he proved his grit and talent.

“Always. I always want to prove that I can be part of the team. Every day I work hard so that I can continue to be part of this team,” Reyes said.

Reyes also expressed gratitude to GoTyme which will provide financial support to PFF’s national teams.

GoTyme’a products will aid the teams with financial operations, including allowances for both local and international use, as well as organizing grassroots development programs.

“Just as a player, for all of us it’s really nice to feel the support and see that our success brings people to want to invest in us and hopefully we can continue to do even better so that more people can come help us out so we can reach our final goals,” he said.

GoTyme is anticipated to launch the inaugural GoTyme Bank Cup sometime in September where it will bring both men’s and women’s national teams from the country to go up against teams from South Africa, Vietnam and Singapore.

Also present in the event were GoTyme Bank CEO Nate Clark, PFF director of senior national football teams Freddy Gonzalez and PMNFT head coach Albert Capellas.
