SHELEEN Nicole Ramores came off the bench to lift Kaya FC-Iloilo to a riveting 1-0 win over the undermanned Manila Digger last Saturday night to capture the Coca-Cola Philippine Football Women’s League title at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

With the match winding down, Ramores was virtually left unmarked inside the goalbox in the 86th minute for a sharp strike beyond the reach of Manila Digger goalie Ayishatu Simpson for the club’s first major women’s football crown.

Making things more difficult for the Manila Digger booters was the eviction of Hannah Pachejo, who scored the winning penalty in the team’s 4-3 semifinal win over FEU, just 26 minutes into the game after being slapped a second yellow card.

“I’m happy for Kaya, it’s another historic achievement for the club,” said Kaya coach Let Dimzon. “We’re the first club to win the PFF Women’s League and it is a huge honor for us to get this title.”

FEU nipped La Salle 2-1 earlier to bag third place on Dionesa Tolentino’s goal in the 53rd minute.
