FILIPINO sports fans can view the highly-prized FIFA Women’s World Cup trophy during the third leg of its journey starting in the afternoon of March 1 at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati.
To locally hype up the FIFA Women’s World Cup that will be co-hosted from July 20 to Aug. 20 by Australia and New Zeland, the Philippine Football Federation has chosen the mall in the country’s main commercial hub for public viewing of the trophy from 3 to 6 p.m.
“We are delighted to welcome the FIFA Women’s World Cup trophy in Manila as excitement continues to build up for the Filipinas’ debut in the most prestigious women’s football tournament in the world,” said PFF president Mariano Araneta Jr.
“We hope the upcoming trophy tour would inspire Filipino football fans and players, particularly young women’s players nationwide,” said PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes. “It is a unique moment for everyone to see the trophy which is only seen during the official draw and the final match.”
Spicing up the two-day affair are side events such as mini games, freestyle football, penalty shootouts, skills and header challenges.
Fans will also have a rare privilege to get a photo with the actual trophy in the background.
