STEEPED in Philippine heritage, history and tradition but at the same symbolizing the universality of the sport it represents, the official logo and theme of the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup Philippines 2025 was unveiled in colorful ceremonies at the WhiteSpace Manila auditorium in Makati last Tuesday night.
International Football Federation director of tournaments Jaime Yarza, Philippine Football Federation president John Gutierrez and members of the Filipina5, the national women’s futsal team, graced the unveiling of the logo “capturing the speed of the game and the unstoppable energy of the host nation.”
According to the FIFA press release “the stunning contemporary emblem has a distinctly Filipino flavor, fusing futsal’s key elements with references to local street art and motifs, Zamboanga vinta boats, the gabbang (bamboo xylophone) musical instrument and traditional binakol (chicken stew) patterns.”
“The powerful visual identity reflects a game that is constantly on the move and the sights and sounds of the host nation, which are combined with depictions of the futsal ball, the shape of the pitch and the five members of each team,” the statement said.
“The design also features arrows that portray the fine line between defense and attack in a form of football renowned for its captivating speed and skill,” it added.
“It is incredible to see how women’s futsal has grown over the past couple of decades, culminating in the launch in the launch of the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup in the heart of Southeast Asian this year,” noted Yarza of the elite tournament with the official slogan “Master of Speed.”
Keen interest in the maiden meet was underscored by the fact that 70 countries from all over the world were bidding to qualify for the competition set from Nov. 21 to Dec. 7 at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City and Victorias Coliseum in Victorias, Negros Occidental, according to Yarza.
“With the launch of this brand, the countdown begins to a landmark event that will further accelerate the rapid growth of women’s football, both in the region and globally,” Dame Sarai Bareman, FIFA chief women’s football officer, stressed in a video message.
“This tournament will be a defining moment for the women’s game, bringing together the best national teams in the world from all six confederations to showcase their talent and inspire future generations,” Bareman added.
“The launch of this brand marks a major milestone, not just for this event but for the advancement of women in sport globally,” said Gutierrez, who played a pivotal role in securing the rights to host the first FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup during the FIFA Congress in Bangkok, Thailand last year.
“It is an honor for our country to host the first-ever edition of the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup, and we are proud to welcome the world’s best national teams for a tournament that will inspire girls and women to pursue a career in sport,” the PFF chief pointed out.
“This tournament will capture the imagination of fans in the Philippines and beyond, forging a path for future generations,” added Gutierrez, disclosing that it was also his first time to see both the logo and theme of the 16-team international competition.
