LOOK who’s back at the helm of the Philippine Azkals — Thomas Dooley.

The German-American, a two-time World Cup veteran with the US squad, announced on his Facebook account yesterday that he had accepted the invitation of the Philippine Football Federation to be the head coach of the national men’s football team again.

“Yes, I am Back, And I Can’t-Wait To Get My Hands On This Team Again. Let’s Play, Let’s Fight, And Let’s Be Successful Again,” posted Dooley, 61, the architect of the Azkals’ maiden appearance in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

“Yes, I’m back and can’t wait to get started. We will change the direction we have been going for the last four years,” he said. “I am honored to coach our beloved team again.

Players will be honored to wear this jersey with pride. (By) not just talking about it, but also showing (it) on the field.

“We will take the success back to where we left together four years ago. I know it’s easier said than done. It will be difficult, but we will make it. We will fight, we will play football and we will win again. So let’s start together to help the Philippine men’s national team succeed.

“Thank you PFF for the trust. You will not regret it,” vowed Dooley of his coaching comeback.

Dooley revealed the development three days after the PFF announced on its website that English tactician Scott Cooper had resigned as the national men’s coach.

Apparently, Dooley could not contain his excitement in waiting for the PFF’s formal announcement and disclosed it himself on his Facebook page.
