THE much-anticipated inaugural 7s Super League is set to kick off on March 10 at the McKinley Stadium in Taguig City, ushering in a new era of football excitement in the Philippines.
Anton del Rosario, CEO, and founder of 7×7 Football Philippines, together with Ethan Lee, executive director of 7×7 Philippines and Melissa Henson, AIA Philippines, chief marketing officer, led the presentation of the league in a press launch in Makati last Thursday.
The tournament, organized by 7×7 Football Philippines, promises to redefine football in the country with its unique format, according to Anton Del Rosario of the Philippine Azkals.
The 7s Super League introduces a fast-paced and dynamic style of football. With a compact field and a lesser number of players, matches are expected to be high-scoring and action-packed, delivering an exhilarating experience for fans.
Elite teams made up of top football talents from various cities in Metro Manila will compete in the league’s debut season, among them the Alabang South Supers, BGC Soldiers, Pampanga Strikers, Paranaque Super Nets, Quezon City Heroes, Siniloan GOM Blues, and Pasig City Pirates.
With a blend of local and international players, the 7s Super League adds a global dimension to the competition, offering fans exciting matchups and diverse playing styles that contribute to the rich tapestry of football in the Philippines.
Del Rosario expressed his enthusiasm for the league’s launch, emphasizing its potential to revolutionize football in the country. “This will be a game-changer for football in the Philippines,” said Del Rosario. “The unique format, combined with the caliber of players involved, promises to deliver an unforgettable football experience.”
He also highlighted the league’s commitment to its “7×7 Goals of J.O.Y,” focusing on creating Jobs, providing Opportunities, and nurturing the Youth through football.
