THE Alas Pilipinas national women’s volleyball team received incentives from the Philippine Sports Commission, through the initiative of Sen. Bong Go, last Wednesday night for their historic bronze medal finish in the AVC Challenge Cup for Women last month.
Go, along with PSC Commissioner Bong Coo and executive director Paulo Francisco Tatad, and PNVF secretary-general Don Caringal, led the turnover of P200,000 for each player at the PSC conference room.
“We like to thank all of you not only for the incentive after our recent bronze medal in the AVC, but also for your continuous support, not just for Philippine volleyball but also for every hardworking Filipino athlete with the aspirations the same as ours,” ace setter Jia De Guzman said.
Meanwhile, familiar names will boost Cignal and ZUS Coffee for the PVL Reinforced Conference set to begin on July 16.
The HD Spikers announced they will have Venezuelan hard-hitting spiker MJ Perez as their reinforcement while the Thunderbelles will parade Japanese hitter Asaka Tamaru.
Perez and Tamaru are no stranger in Philippines, the former having played in the defunct Philippine Superliga while the latter saw action in the PVL Invitational Conference last year with the Japan-based squad Kurashiki Ablaze.
