CIGNAL stunned grand slam-seeking Creamline, pulling off a 23-25, 25-23, 28-26, 25-18 victory yesterday in the semifinals of the PVL Reinforced Conference at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
American import Tai Bierria produced 21 points, 17 off attacks, three blocks and a service ace, along with six excellent receptions for the HD Spikers who boosted their drive for a finals berth in the tourney.
Cignal rose to 2-0 in the single-round semifinals, while the Cool Smashers slipped to 1-1.
“Sobrang happy kasi siyempre kilala naman nating iyong Creamline. Talagang mahirap silang talunin kung hindi mo sila talagang paghahandaan, hindi ka magpapakondisyon, talagang mahihirapan mo silang talunin,” HD Spikers coach Shaq delos Santos said. “Grabe iyong respect namin sa kanila even iyong other teams na pumasok sa Final Four.”
“Malaki itong opportunity sa amin na mas maging better pa kami sa susunod na game namin,” he added.
Middle blocker Meneses and opposite hitter Angeli Araneta also contributed 11 and 10 markers, respectively, while open hitter Molina added eight markers for Cignal.
