Fernandez attends SEA Games meeting

NATIONAL team chief of mission Ramon Fernandez attended yesterday the delegation registration meeting of the 31st Vietnam Southeast Asian Games where he submitted the formal roster of the Philippine delegation to the regional meet formally opening on May 12 at the My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi.

Fernandez arrived in the Vietnamese capital last Sunday together with deputies Carl Sambrano and Pearl Managuelod together with the national secretariat composed of Philippine Olympic Committee and Philippine Sports Commission personnel.

He also submitted the list of the national contingent, complete with the schedule of departure and arrival of athletes.

Set to arrive yesterday in the Vietnamese capital were the national athletes in football, kickboxing and beach handball, whose events were to start on Friday.

The kickboxers and beach handball bets left from Manila to Hanoi via Singapore Airlines while the national Under-23 squad was coming on a Malaysian Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur after playing with the Malaysian U-23 side in a tune-up match.

The national diving team is also scheduled to leave the country shortly since it will see action on Sunday at the My Dinh Aquatic Center just across the My Dinh Stadium.
