Favorites continue to dominate Metro Darts League

FAVORED teams continued to stamp their mark as action in the Metro Manila Invitational Darts League heated up at the Jho Bulls Darts Club in Barangay Damayan, Quezon City.

Team Veolia and Wilem of Marikina streaked to their third straight wins in Group A last Tuesday, pounding out 8-5 win and 9-4 wins over Darts Underground and Sapul 1, respectively.

Led by Marvin Aratea, Team Veolia took an early 3-0 lead only to lose four straight games but recovered in the stretch to hand Darts Underground its second loss in three games.

Wilem, with Mark Lucas and Allen Macalino showing the way, won five of the first seven games and took four of the last five to relegate Sapul 1 to the bottom of the group with a 0-3 mark.

Jho Bulls 1, led by team captain Tito Dimanarig who went 4-of-4 in his matches, bounced back from a 4-9 defeat to Team Veolia last week by stopping the two-game winning streak of 21 Batch 8-5 and improved to 1-1.

Aiden also improved to 1-1 with a 9-4 win over Asprec 2.

Action last Wednesday saw Sapul 2 stunning Asprec 1 via a 9-4 win, El Tigre humbling Panda Darters 10-3, Barabida outplaying Dustin 24 via an 8-5 count and Navotas Darts Club beating Jho Bulls 2 via a 10-3 count.

Despite playing with just six players, Barabida surged to a 5-2 lead in the first seven games and held its ground when Dustin 24 threatened to score its third straight win in Group B.

El Tigre kept in step with Barabida at 3-0 while handing Panda Darters its third straight loss Sapul 1 improved to 2-1 in a tie with Asprec 1.

Navotas scored its first win in three games while Jho Bulls 2 absorbed its second straight loss.

The tournament featuring 18 teams resumes next week.
