ALEX Eala sustained her phenomenal form last Wednesday night, sweeping her singles and doubles matches in the W25 Aldershot tennis tournament at the Aldershot Tennis Center in Aldershot, England.

After beating hometown bet Ranah Akua Stoiber 6-2, 6-4 in the women’s singles opener, Eala teamed up with Polish veteran Urszula Radwanksa to pull off a stunning 6-3, 7-5 upset of the top-seeded British pair of Emily Appleton and Lauryn John-Baptiste for a place in the semifinals of the women’s doubles.

Bracing for another grueling day, the third-seeded Pinay southpaw had a second-round date last night against Australian Talia Gibson, who took out Englishwoman Ella McDonald 6-2, 6-4 in the first round.

She then will pair off with Radwanska, the elder sister of world No. 2 Agnieska Radwanska, when they tangle with the No. 3 seeded duo of Erina Hayashi and Saki Imamura, who eliminated the British tandem of Neil Miller and Amelia Rajecki 7-5, 6-4. — Bong Pedralvez
