CHERY Tiggo hurdled gritty Farm Fresh, scoring a 29-27, 15-25, 25-22, 25-21 victory last night and sweeping the Pool B play-in round of the PVL All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
Veteran wing spiker Ara Galang showed the way for the Crossovers with 20 points on 16 attacks, three blocks and a service ace while Shaya Adorador delivered a 18 markers, 13 digs and 11 excellent receptions in the two-hour and 18 minutes match.
Outside spiker Cess Robles also added 13 hits, 13 digs and nine excellent receptions as setter Alina Bicar tossed 17 excellent sets to go with three points for Chery Tiggo.
Last week, the Crossovers outlasted the Nxled Chameleons in the Pool B stage with a straight set triumph.
Chery Tiggo advance as the eighth-ranked squad and will face defending champion and top-seeded Creamline in the best-of-3 quarterfinals Tuesday next week at the same venue.
“Happy kasi although nagka-setback noong second set, nakita naman namin na trinabaho pa rin namin after, sa next sets and iyon nga, nakikita iyong gaano din katibay iyong team namin sa ganoon situation so mahalaga na na-te-test pa rin kami,” Galang siad. “Hanggang ngayon kasi sa quarterfinals hindi rin naman madali iyong pagdadaanan namin. So, babaunin na lang namin iyong mga natutunan namin today.”
