EVEN still without prized spiker Alyssa Valdez, Creamline outclassed Cignal yesterday 25-16, 25-21, 25-15 for its second straight win in the PVL All-Filipino Conference at The Arena in San Juan.

Michele Gumabao showed the way for the Cool Smashers with 14 points and eight excellent digs, while Jema Galanza contributed 13 markers, seven excellent receptions and six digs.

Diana Mae Carlos chipped in 13 points, Ced Domingo had nine, while setter Jia De Guzman tossed 25 excellent sets along with two points for Creamline, which continues to miss Valdez due to a knee injury.

“Overall naman maganda iyong naging galaw namin today. Iyong ibang (mga) breaks (ng laro) napunta lang sa amin lalo na iyong second set, iyong kalagitnaan medyo nakaabot talaga iyong Cignal,” Cool Smashers coach Sherwin Meneses said.

“Naging okay kasi naka-recover naman kami pero overall, maganda iyong nilaro namin. Sana magtuloy-tuloy,” he added.

After handily dominating the first two sets, Creamline pressed on in the third frame and led 15-5.

The Cool Smashers even padded their edge to 19-7 as Carlos shoved Creamline to match point after an off the block hit. A quick hit from Domingo finished the match.

Ces Molina was the lone bright spot for the HD Spikers, who remained winless in two games, with 12 points.
