BONG Coo wants fellow bowling icon Paeng Nepomuceno to succeed her as the new Philippine Bowling Federation president after she was appointed as PSC commissioner last Tuesday.

“I want Paeng to succeed me as PBF president because of his prestige and stature. He commands the respect of the local bowling community, although I have to talk to him yet. I am praying he accepts,” Coo said a day after receiving her appointment papers from Malacanang.

“I know that with Paeng as the new PBF president, the federation and our sport will be in good hands,” she added.

Coo, a World Bowling and Philippine Sports Hall of Famer, received her appointment papers from PSC Executive Director and officer-in-charge Atty. Guillermo Iroy Jr. last Tuesday at the PSC administration building.

Under Republic Act 6847, the law that created the PSC in 1990, the well-decorated bowler had to relinquish her position as PBF president as well as the head of the Philippine Olympic Committee Women’s Commission to avoid conflict of interest.

“Certainly, I was very delighted but also actually overwhelmed because I feel I have come full circle in my sports journey with this appointment,” said Coo, 74.
