APPARENTLY awestruck by the moment, John Ceniza bombed out of the men’s 61kg division of the Paris Olympic Games weightlifting tournament at the Paris Expo Portes des Versailles early yesterday morning (Wednesday night in France).
With his right shoulder heavily bandaged, Ceniza failed to lift 125 kilos in the snatch on all three tries, a weight that he easily cleared as recent as the IWF World Cup in Phuket, Thailand last April where he finished fourth overall to seal a ticket to Paris.
The Cebuano also hoisted 134 kilos in the snatch in placing fourth last year in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
Scheduled to compete last night in the women’s 59kg class was fellow Cebuano Elreen Ann Ando while Boholana Vanessa Sarno was to cap the Philippine Olympic weightlifting campaign today, vying in the women’s 71kg category.
