Celebrate the Year of the Wood Dragon with an authentic Chinese feast at The Empress Dining Palace. The menu not only satisfies taste buds but is also believed to bring luck and fortune.
The Empress Dining Palace stays true to Cantonese classics, emphasizing the importance of Chinese traditions. These dishes, passed down through generations, are believed to bring good luck in the new year.
“We adhere to the (Cantonese) classics and serve them excellently because we believe in the importance of Chinese traditions,” Aida Velasco, chief operating officer of The Empress Dining Palace, shared with Malaya Business Insight.
One highlight is the Empress Treasure Pot, featuring 18 Chinese favorites like Peking duck and abalone, symbolizing prosperity throughout the year. The “Yusheng” or Empress Prosperity Tossed Salad, with raw fish and vibrant ingredients, symbolizes abundance and vigor.

The Empress Radish Cake, sounding like “good fortune” in Chinese, and the Empress Glutinous Rice Cake (Nian Gao), symbolizing achieving greatness, add to the auspicious offerings.
“These dishes have been passed down through generations, with each family having its own special versions, as they are believed to bring good luck in the new year,” Velasco added.
A cute dragon plush toy, on the other hand, adds joy to the celebration.
“We have transformed The Empress Dining Palace with festive decorations to celebrate the Chinese New Year,” Velasco mentioned.
The Empress Dining Palace is decked with festive decorations for the Chinese New Year. During the weekend of Feb. 9 and 10, patrons can participate in a raffle for mystery vouchers with a minimum purchase of P5,000, offering free desserts, dishes, and up to 50 percent discounts.

A photoman at The Empress Dining Palace will capture free photos for patrons, creating joyful memories. Take-away options, such as Hot Box Feasts and Dimsum Platters, are available for private celebrations and gifting.
An all-you-can-eat dimsum weekend breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m., with free meals for kids below 3 feet, adds to the offerings. As The Empress Dining Palace enters its 5th year in 2024, it aims to expand its clientele and share authentic Chinese culture through excellent food.
“After all, our commitment as a company is to share Chinese culture and bring people together through fantastic food,” Velasco noted.
