MAKE way for a new king in 3×3 play.

Cavitex outlasted San Miguel Beer 21-19 yesterday to bag its maiden title in the second leg of the PBA 3×3 Season 2 first conference at the Robinsons Place Novaliches.

New addition Jorey Napoles, who suited up for Limitless last season, boomed in a dagger of a floater to lift the Braves, whose previous best finish was leg bridesmaid in their only other leg finals stint since the second stop of last season’s third Conference.

The Beermen quartet of Ken Bono, Wendell Comboy, Jeff Manday and Alfonzo Gotladera charged back from an eight-point hole and even had a chance to steal the victory from the two-point area but fell short, settling for the P50,000 second place reward.

Bong Galanza wound up with eight points for Cavitex, while Napoles, a former Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 member, chipped in seven points.

Galanza, Napoles, Chester Saldua and Dominic Fajardo took home P100,000 for their riveting triumph.

The Braves nipped Leg 1 third place winner Platinum 14-12 in the quarterfinals and followed it up with a 17-16 squeaker over Leg 1 runner-up Meralco in the semifinals.

SMB whipped Leg 1 champion TNT 20-14 in the semifinals.

The Tropang Giga downed the Bolts 20-17 in the battle for third to pocket P30,000.
