THE missing piece in the title puzzle?

Ace playmaker Hesed Gabo returned to Nueva Ecija for its campaign in the Pilipinas Super League President’s Cup. From the looks of things, he might just be the much-needed player who can spell the big difference for the Capitals.

“Hesed is a very good addition. He’s my player in our previous championships. Nandyan siya. Mas makakaganda sa team iyong pagbabalik ni Hesed,” coach Jerson Cabiltes said after his wards dumped the RCP Shawarma Shack Demigods last Monday night at The Arena in San Juan. “We’ll take it one game at a time. Marami pa kaming kailangan i-improve and to work on.

Gabo said: “I’m just happy and grateful sa opportunity na binigay sa akin ng Nueva Ecija. Masaya. Excited ako na makabalik at home. Lagi naman ang goal is to win a championship.”

The Nueva Ecija five of effervescent businessman-sportsman Bong Cuevas and team manager Ivan Cuevas scored a big follow up to a 96-74 ripping of the Novaliches QC Warriors last Dec. 20 and remained unbeaten with an 8-0 mark in the tourney spearheaded by PBA great Allan Caidic as Commissioner.

The Demigods fell to 1-8.

The 5-foot-9 Gabo, who finished with four points and four assists, vowed he will do whatever it takes to lead the Capitals, also known as the Rice Vanguards in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.

“All I can promise is siyempre, I’ll give my 101 percent, contributing anywhere I can sa team and siyempre iyong PBA experience, I guess malaking bagay iyon,” he said.

Michael Juico showed the way for Nueva Ecija with 15 points and three rebounds, while Ralph Robin added 12 markers.

Axel Doromal and Chris Bitoon also combined for 21 for the Capitals.

Joshua Montero paced RCP Shawarma Shack with 21 points, while Bernabe Teodoro had 10 markers.
